Biography of Dr. Movallali


Guita Movallali, Audiologist and Psychologist is currently an Associate Professor in Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Research Center ,USWR University and board member of Iranian Audiology Association in Tehran, a city of 20 million ,capital of Iran.

She is CEO of Faranak Clinic, a pioneer center that serves deaf children and their families from early childhood through adulthood with wide audiology, rehabilitation, early literacy and counselling services.

She has authored many articles in peer-reviewed journals spanning pediatric audiology, deaf studies, mother-child programs for deaf families, counselling deaf adolescents, lip-reading, Cued Speech, Storytelling ,Mother Goose program for deaf babies….

She developed Persian Cued Speech for Persian speaking deaf children and adults in 2009 as her doctoral dissertation and started to introduce it to both professionals and parents through social networks and so many workshops, editing books and educational materials etc.

Being trained in Melbourne, Australia, she started Parent-Child Mother Goose (PCMG) program in 2012 in her country. This visit to Taralye Center, Australia lead to developing some other programs too. Dr. Movallali was so interested in early literacy programs and started the first book reading programs in Iran for deaf children and their parents from infancy through preschool.

She has both edited and translated many books for families and professionals working for deaf children and adults. She has also written many helpful resources for parents and professionals and had many national and international presentations.

Participating in FCEI conferences in 2012 in Austria , she started some very helpful activities in her country. She has made a marvelous Impact in her work on developing and implementing Family Centered Early Intervention for deaf and hard of hearing children (FCEI) in Iran, in the most difficult of circumstances. With the help and support of FCEI committee, she held the first FCEI-Iran in 2016.Her achievements have challenged perceptions and changed practice, and most importantly have enabled much needed early services access and support for families. In 2016, she translated FCEI best practice to Persian language with a group of experts, for which FCEI-international committee admired her in 2019.

In 2016,NCSA Awards Committee selected Guita to be the recipient of a Cueing Educator Award in recognition of her excellence and innovative leadership in promoting the use of Cued Speech in education.

Dr Movallali started many programs and projects in her country, such as:

-The first journal for deaf children and their parents

_Book reading programs for deaf children

-Early literacy and early intervention programs, groups and resources for deaf mothers of deaf children (in Sign language)

-Online support groups for parents of deaf children, professionals and deaf adults

-Persian Parent Child Mother Goose Program (Faranak Program)

-Triple P(Positive Parenting Program)  interventions for deaf children (including baby triple P)

-Psychological intervention programs (mother-child) for deaf babies

-developing resources for deaf children with additional disabilities.

-Starting Parvaneha Association for parents of deaf  & hard of hearing children
